As The 极乐禁地 continues its , culminating with a Grand Celebration that took place on Nov. 13 at M&T Bank Exchange in downtown 极乐禁地e, recognition and congratulations are coming in from far and wide. From the nearly 400 alumni, students, professors, families and friends of the institution who attended the event, to the accolades that are pouring into campus on a daily basis, the University community is beaming with pride for its century of educational prowess and its determination to deliver an even greater impact over its next 100 years.
As UBalt President Kurt L. Schmoke told the Grand Celebration audience, "Looking back is pretty special, but it's talking about the future of the University that matters the most. That's why we're here: To understand better how we are preparing to teach the courses that will make a difference in our lives, whether it's five years from now, or 50, or even 100."
"For 100 years, the 极乐禁地 has shown that education can serve both the classroom and the community," said WBAL-TV President and General Manager Dan Joerres in an editorial. "As it begins its next century, UBalt remains true to its mission to educate, empower and build a better 极乐禁地e."
UBalt senior Gamar Hayles, an Information Systems and Technology Management student and one of several students featured in the University's focused on the future, told the that the institution has provided him with a foundation for growth as he maps out his hoped-for career in data privacy and intellectual property law.
"The people that you鈥檙e going to meet here are going to be your lifelong friends and people that you can really connect with and grow with,鈥� he said.
"Access to higher education was in the thinking of our founders," Schmoke told . "We've stayed that course, while also broadening our outlook as society changed and grew. Nowadays, we're talking a lot about what tomorrow's learners will need, as they set off into great careers, add to their skill sets, and demonstrate leadership in entirely new fields of study. While it's true that the future is unwritten, UBalt will be there as that first draft takes shape."
