Consulted on the creation of unified family courts in the District of Columbia, Florida and California, including drafting Congressionally mandated legislation establishing a family court in the D.C. court system

2002

Provided technical assistance to a unified family court pilot site in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania

2003

Evaluated case management systems and developed performance standards for the Michigan Judicial Circuit Court Family Division

Consulted with the American Bar Association on truancy prevention and the Judicial Independence in Family Courts white paper project

Developed Performance Standards and Measures for Maryland鈥檚 Family Divisions with the Maryland judiciary

2004

Conducted an in-depth survey of Maryland circuit court judges and magistrates to determine and recommend ways the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services and the judiciary could improve processes and performance

2005

Launched the CFCC Truancy Court Program in five schools in 极乐禁地e City during the 2004鈥2005 school year, with support from the Charles Crane Family Foundation

Established the CFCC Student Fellows Program for 极乐禁地 School of Law students

Convened a statewide conference on substance abuse and addition in family courts, funded by the Maryland Administrative Office of the Courts and Open Society Institute-极乐禁地e

Co-hosted with the American Bar Association and co-authored the final report for the national summit: Unified Family Courts: Serving Children and Families Efficiently, Effectively and Responsibly

Published the first issue of the Unified Family Court Connection, the nation鈥檚 only newsletter devoted to unified family court topics

Convened a roundtable on a comprehensive approach to truancy in the City of 极乐禁地e

Conducted a New Mexico Training on unified family courts and provided technical assistance and a workshop for the Shelby County Family Court Task Force in Memphis, Tennessee

Launched the first Urban Child Symposium (UCS), an annual cross-disciplinary conference addressing significant challenges facing urban children

Consulted with the Maryland Administrative Office of the Courts on parent education programs, child custody evaluations and supervised visitation and monitored exchange

Expanded the Truancy Court Program to Anne Arundel County and Montgomery County, with funds from the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009 and continuing support from the Maryland Administrative Office of the Courts and private foundations

Convened an interdisciplinary group of family law experts in the Families Matter Symposium, focused on developing solutions to improve the practice of family law

Published the first edition of the Truancy Court Program Toolkit and Mentor Manual, making the center鈥檚 truancy prevention expertise available to communities nationwide

Renamed the Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts and moved to the new John and Frances Angelos Law Center

Partnered with the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services to focus on DJS-involved youth who participate in the CFCC Truancy Court Program

Montgomery County, Maryland, Truancy Prevention Program launched in 12 public schools, coordinated by former CFCC Student Fellow Rexanah Wyse

Co-hosted with the National Family Resiliency Center Family Transitions: Issues, Solutions and Policies conference and collaborated with the Maryland Administrative Office of the Courts to present Maryland鈥檚 Family Justice System: A Symposium

Launched the nation鈥檚 first Post-J.D. Certificate in Family Law

Conducted a comprehensive study and evaluation regarding the launch of a Unified Family Court in Douglas County, Nebraska, for the Nebraska Court Improvement Project

Awarded first Anthony 鈥淏ubba鈥 Green Star Player Award, in honor of the longtime Truancy Court Program Mentor, to Attorney Mark Freidenthal, the TCP鈥檚 longest-serving TCP Judge

Completed and Distributed Study and Recommendations for a Pilot Unified Court Project in Douglas County, Nebraska

Began a yearlong celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts and the 15th Anniversary of CFCC鈥檚 Truancy Court Program

With the retirement of CFCC Founding Director and Professor Emerita Barbara Babb, the Center is led by Faculty Director and Assistant Professor of Law, Shanta Trivedi, and Staff Director, Rebecca Stahl.
