We are committed to providing all scholarship recipients who enroll with the opportunity to maintain their scholarship throughout law school. The number of first-year students receiving a scholarship will never exceed the number of all first-year students at or above the required GPA. This has been our practice since the creation of the UBalt Law Scholarship. The GPA requirement to retain a scholarship award for students granted fall admission is 2.75.
Scholarships are applied to law tuition only and may not be applied to fees. Half of the annual award amount is applied to the fall and spring semesters. Please contact the Office of Law Admissions with any questions.
Some residents of surrounding states qualify for in-state tuition through the School of Law's Regional Tuition Rate.
Some out-of-state students will receive an out-of-state student grant to compensate for the difference between the In-State and Out-of-State tuition rates. Selection is based on undergraduate GPA and LSAT score. Students will receive the grant for the first year of law school. Please contact the Office of Law Admissions to see if you qualify and for information about changing your residency status.
You are automatically considered for (MHEC) scholarships if you complete the FAFSA by May 1, are a Maryland resident, and meet need-based requirements. State of Maryland Scholarship information is available on the (MHEC) website.
High-performing students are eligible for membership in the Royal Shannonhouse Honor Society. The society recognizes academic excellence in law school. Students with a GPA of 3.7 or higher are inducted as Distinguished scholars. Students with a GPA of 3.15 to 3.69 are inducted as members of the honor society. Full-time students are considered for membership upon completion of the first year of law school. Part-time students are considered for membership upon completion of three semesters of law school. Membership in the society includes a scholarship.
Students are encouraged to investigate scholarships offered by outside organizations such as Bar Associations and Foundations.
