Have questions? We're here to help.

Here are the most frequently asked questions before, during and after the commencement ceremony.

Yes. Students must by the dates noted in the academic calendar for each semester.

Your legal first and last name will be used in the ceremony program. If you have a preferred first name that you would like to be used instead of your legal name, notify lawcommencement@ubalt.edu by March 15.

Graduating students will be e-mailed a form from the law school鈥檚 registrar鈥檚 office which will allow students to designate how their name should appear on the diploma.

If you ordered regalia, simply return it in the box it was shipped in, using the prepaid label that was included. Graduates may keep the cap (tam) and tassle.

The law school only provides cords for graduates that have participated in Law Review, Law Forum and the Board of Advocates. The cords will be distributed in April.

Students who are part of other organizations may wear the stoles or cords of those organizations to the ceremony. If a law student organization wants to purchase cords or stoles they may do so at their own personal expense. Student organizations are prohibited by state law from purchasing these items with Org funds.

Students do not receive their diploma at the commencement ceremony. It takes several weeks for final grades to be posted and for the degree to be officially conferred. Diplomas will be mailed to students at the address listed in MyUBalt approximately 6-8 after the ceremony. Students who would like to update their address should fill out this form.
